  1. Ok so NO to develop under the oval but what are the alternatives?

Don't agree with the argument that this is to far away from the Manly Cbd or isn't good for local business. Because visitors only have to cross one road and walk past local businesses to the beach. Plus with 3 hour parking for locals and a new water park where will visitors park?

  3. More aesthetically pleasing bin storage in the market place precinct

I love the market place area, the increased alfresco dining and pedestrian laneways but the large number rubbish bins in the precinct are a great point of detraction. Could we find a way to hide these smelly, ugly but necessary items from public view?

  4. Why no restore the promenade and swimming that was destroyed many years ago.

I have been coming to Manly to swim and enjoy the area (both Harbourside and surf) since I was a very young boy in the ‘40’s and have particularly missed the promenade.

  5. Community Gardens

The community garden at 100 Griffith Street, Balgowlah has proven a great success http://www.balgowlahcg.com and while many people in suburbs like Seaforth and Balgowlah Hts already have a garden, there are thousands of unit dwellers in our area who don't.

Do you think Manly Council should encourage more community gardens? Would you be interested in participating in one?

  6. Take the jack boots off the rangers...They aren't police. They should not dress, nor act like police.

Take the jack boots off the rangers...They aren't police. They should not dress, nor act like police.

Heavy handed rangers are are such a detriment to the community of Manly at the moment. There is a poor attitude among the rangers, and their behaviour is more and more authoritarian, and less valuable members of the community. Take the army boots away, and set a new tone for service and community, not enforcement and monitoring.

  7. Upgrade public amenities at Manly Point and Shelly beach

The public toilets at Manly Point and Shelly are terrible: insufficient cubicles for the number of people using with blocked toilets every weekend and holiday, broken dispensers, graffiti and rubbish - they give a really poor impression to the large number of visitors to these areas and are very unpleasant to use. There seem to be new amenities up the beaches but not for Manly?

  8. History Heritage and Art

Manly is well known for sun, swimming, eating and drinking. But I would love to see more promotion of the history, heritage, art and local business. Using our imaginations I am sure Manly's profile can be lifted and expanded to become known as the destination spot that has it all! One idea could be to have a Town crier on weekends dressed in period costume. He could be roaming the village stopping at various spots and crying out what is in that vicinity. Heritage and current business can be promoted. For example he could say “This is the location of…

  10. Something needs to be done about the number shopping trolleys abandoned in Manly streets. Coles should be held accountable

Coles Peninsular should have same rule as the Coles Corso Trolleys should only be permitted to be taken to Peninsular Carpark but not out of store onto street We also need to go back to coin operated shopping trolleys. It makes people more accountable

  11. Theatre in the previous oceanworld manly

Being a resident of Manly with a copule of properties I feel we should be considering the people who are more mature 50 plus paying council rates . Some people are less mobile than others we need to re open the movie theatre next to the 4 pines this would be beneficial for young and old and tourists we also need to make oceanworld into a live theatre comedies talk shows etc with a great wharf at the doorstep what better way to travel to Manly dinner and a theatre show people would stay the weekend even in winter months…

  12. What's Happening at Grahams Reserve? First the dog-walkers and then the dog owners?

Is Grahams being taken over by Manly Warringah District Cricket Club? When Manly Oval car park is under construction the club is moving to Grahams. What is going to happen to the dogs. Grahams is the only safe, fully fenced off-leash dog park in Manly.

Notice the nicest section off the corso is the part with cars .NOT because off the traffic but because off the central green planting.
Manly needs more garden beds but better maintained than manlys

  14. Trees on the East Esplanade Reserve

Background – Compared to West Esplanade the trees on East Esplanade Reserve are looking very tired right from the Wharf to the Manly Cove Motor Yacht Club shed. Many Norfolk Island Pines are missing, dying or dead. There are also several Cook Island Pines that are very dense and twisted and spoil the views. The large Morton Bay Fig at the bottom of Osbourne Road is mature and the Port Jackson Fig between it and the Motor Yacht Club is very decayed.

Proposal – About fourteen new Norfolk Island Pines should be planted on the East Esplanade between Wentworth and…

  15. Benchtop compost bins

Some councils give these out free to rate payers. I have used one and found it reduced the garbage in my regular bin significantly. Many people live in units or small homes and have no room to have a compost heap or worm farm. Each household also gets a roll of compostible bags which are used to line the little compost bins and these are put into the green waste bin every few days.

  17. Alcohol consumption in East Boulevarde park

It seems lots of people bring alcoholic beverages to this grassed area to consume when it is zoned as an alcohol-free area. Most of the time this is fine. . but occasionally you see significant amounts of alcohol being consumed(with obvious impact). If there is a rule. . it should be policed.
Otherwise scrap the rule and assume people will drink responsibly.
Turning a blind eye doesn't seem responsible!

  18. Protecting Sporting Facilities in Manly

One of the great things about Australia and Manly area is generally very good for sporting facilities. However due to the increasing cost of land, sporting facilities, especially those not owned by the council are under threat, as there is greater profit from land development. For example in the 4 or 5 years I have been here in tennis courts have been developed which where at North Curl Curl and last year Court Sports (Deewhy), which had 12 tennis courts, 8 squash courts and volley ball courts looked as if it may well be developed. (these are in Warringah, but…

  19. security

We can only hope that Manly Council can provide sufficient security personell to stop New Years Eve Party goers from urinating, defecating, drug taking, copulating and other anti-social behaviour on local residents properties along East and West Esplanade by the minority of party goers who spoil a fantastic evening for 99 pc of revellers who recognise that private property does not mean the public can trespassdo participate in anti-social behaviour.
